Office Work Station and Desk Ergonomics

Ergonomics of Sit/Stand Desks

Have you ever considered your physical ergonomics at work? Do you sit for long hours at a desk or stand at a counter?

Ergonomics is the study of efficiency in working environments. Ergonomics can also be known as biotechnology, human engineering, and human factors engineering. The study is to find specifics that result in improving ones energy, productivity, working posture. This will directly pertain to computer desks.

In a working environment it is necessary to be concerned with physical ergonomics, which is directly related to physical activity. Physical activity can include working posture, materials handling, repetitive movements, work related musculoskeletal disorders, and work place layout.

A Sit/Stand desk could be the answer to all your questions. A stand up desk could allow you to move through out your day using multiple muscles and joints. This will provide flexibility to those muscles and joints. Being able to stand, you have the opportunity to keep the blood flowing through the body keeping the circulation at top performance. If you are keeping your circulation at top performance you are promoting a healthy heart. Moving frequently the blood will have the ability to flow to the brain. This will result in better brain function. Better brain function will allow you to be more productive at work.

A sit/stand desk will move from a height of 25” to 52”. Office desk height can vary depending upon your chair and your actual height. It adjusts with the touch of a button. Having the flexibility to move to a sitting position to a standing position will take strain off your back and neck. If you no longer have the pain from a trained back or neck nagging at you, you then have the ability to be more focused on the task at hand. With an ergonomic work station and being more focused, you can be more alert. You will then be able to think more clearly, work faster and make better choices while working.

Taking all into consideration you will find that the investment of a stand up desks will be paid for again and again with the productivity of yourself or your employees. You can chose from multiple widths and multiple finishes when purchasing a sit/stand computer desk. The sit/stand desk has coordinating storage, filing and desk accessories so you can create a space the fits perfectly.
